It's finally here! The Percy Jackson fandom can rejoice! I have been a long time reader and fan of the Percy Jackson book and, like many others, was very disappointed by our movie adaptations. Since the news broke of a Percy Jackson tv show for Disney+ I have been excited for this well deserved revival. Every piece of promotional material has been perfectly crafted to bring the most hype to our fandom. Let's get into this trailer and what shots we are getting exposed to.
We open the trailer with a flashback scene of Sally and Percy as she tells him about how he got his name. We really see the love Sally has for her son, but the fear of what he will have to face being a demigod is expressed without her telling him. She wants her son to have a happy ending, but knows what he will face being as powerful as he can become. As she explains this we get flashes of some of the trials he will face. Some of the flashes are Grocer sliding into what I assume to be Tartarus when Luke's shoes drag him down, the arch scene when Percy fights the Echidna and her pet, The Chimera and Percy running through the woods playing capture the flag.
Our next scenes are Percy back at the museum in the present day with his best friend Grover being bullied by the redhead Nancy. He narrates and explains that things seem weird to him like a puzzle with half the wrong pieces. We get our first look at Chiron explaing to Percy what the Gods have in store for him. We get shots of Percy and his mom, Sally Jackson, as she explains to him that the stories of Greek gods are true and his father is one of them. We see more shots of him with Cerberus and at Camp Half-Blood being bullied by some of the campers including Clarisse, Daughter of Ares. We get shots of him, his mom and Grover driving away from the Minotaur on their way to camp.
We see Poseidon meeting Percy for the first time as Chiron tells him that he has been accused of stealing Zeus's master bolt. If he doesn't find it and bring it back to Zeus there will be a war. During this dialogue we see Percy fighting campers during capture the flag. This is a pivotal scene and shows off Percy's potential and his powers. Chiron explains that he will take a quest and that he won't be alone. A quest is always undertaken by three and we get shots of Percy, Annabeth and Grover as our three. Grover, being a satyr, is their guide is meant to help the demigods on their path.
We see Annabeth using her invisibility hat for the first time and Luke helping Percy find out what weapons he can be good at using. As you can see, Archery isn't one of them. We see shots of Percy and Annabeth in the tunnel of love as Percy narrates that there is no place for him. We see Annabeth explain that he doesn't understand his place in all of this as we see a shot of them in a train. Annabeth, in a fight with a monster uses her dagger, which is a major piece of her attire throughout the books and holds sentimental value.
We get our first look at Hermes in action at the Lotus Hotel and Casino as Percy and his friends appear to be trying to escape the effects of the Lotus. We see our much awaited fight between Ares and Percy as they duel on the beach. This scene is pivotal and looks to be done very well. We see more shots of the Minotaur as Sally tells Percy to brave the storm. Next we see Percy running toward the Minotaur with his trusty pen, Riptide.
Our final shots are of Percy saying he might not need a sword before capture the flag begins. This cuts to our first real look at The Chimera at the top of the Arch. We cut back to Percy at capture the flag saying he's going to need a sword. After this dialogue we go back to The Chimera as the monster smacks Percy back and shoots fire at him as he ducks and rolls away from the onslaught of flames.
